FutureTap was founded in 2008 by Ortwin Gentz with the mission to create great iPhone apps. By “great” we mean innovative and easy-to-use apps that fully leverage the iPhone user interface concept.

The first app under the FutureTap brand is Where To? – GPS points of interest, acquired from tap tap tap. Will we stop here? — Hell, no! Where To? is just the beginning, interesting new apps are being planned!

About Ortwin

Ortwin is a long-time Mac user, his first one was a Mac LC running System 6.0.7. After finishing his diploma in computer science at TU Munich he cofounded equinux, a well-known Mac software vendor, in 1999. After nearly 10 years the former founders went separate ways and Ortwin founded FutureTap. Being a two-time Apple Design Award winner, Ortwin is truly passionate about combining rich functionality with gorgeous user interface design.

About the Name

How did we come to the name FutureTap? — Well, since we’re based in Germany (Munich area) and since Germany is a democratic country, we held a poll about the name that would best fit our vision. FutureTap ranked the highest and we think it perfectly communicates our vision of building innovative iPhone Apps.
